मुझे समझ नहीं आया (mujhe samajh nahi aaya) means I did not understand, a genuinely useful phrase for any learner still building fluency. Saying it plainly, without embarrassment, is far more effective than nodding along and hoping to catch up later. Hindi speakers generally respond warmly to this admission, often slowing down or rephrasing without any fuss.

Language learning is widely respected as an effort worth encouraging, and honesty about confusion tends to invite patience rather than frustration. Learners should practise this phrase early and use it often. Pairing it with kripya dobara kahiye, please say it again, gives a simple, two step way to keep a conversation moving even when understanding briefly falls behind.

Learners should think of this phrase as a tool for staying in a conversation, not a reason to leave one. Using it confidently, followed by a request to slow down or repeat, keeps genuine communication going far better than quietly nodding through confusion ever could.
