वक़्त (waqt) means time, a word borrowed from Arabic through Persian and used constantly in daily Hindi speech. Waqt appears in questions, kitna waqt hai, what time is it, and in reflections on how quickly or slowly life seems to move. There is also a native Hindi word for time.
Samay, and the two are used somewhat interchangeably, though waqt often carries a slightly more conversational, everyday feel while samay can sound a touch more formal or reflective.
